Igor & The Red Elvises

November 2, 2019 9:00 pm 701 Main Street, Daytona Beach, Florida

Igor and The Red Elvises return to The Bank on November 2nd!

The Red Elvises began in 1995 after founder Igor Yuzov dreamed that Elvis Presley came to him and told him to start playing rock’n’roll. Not one to say no to the King, Igor and his Russian friends started playing on Santa Monica’s 3rd Street Promenade. Their street musician days did not last long, however, as they drew such huge crowds that the City of Santa Monica brought them to court and ordered them off the streets. Since then Red Elvises have been constantly touring, with occasional breaks from the road to record an album or take part in film and television projects. This constant work for the last 15 years has led to them gaining a world-wide following, with successful tours all over North America, Europe and Russia.

Igor & Red Elvises have declined several major record deals, prefering to maintain independent status and produce all their own work. This includes 11 studio albums, one live album, a live concert DVD and a Greatest Hits compilation. Added to their long resume is work in film and television. They can be found playing everything from large festivals to private parties, small venues to massive stages such as 2005’s Live 8 Benefit Concert. Whatever the event, wherever Igor & Red Elvises go, they bring the party with them.

Selwyn Birchwood

September 28, 2019 8:00 pm 701 Main Street, Daytona Beach, Florida

Orlando-born Selwyn Birchwood whips up his blues not only on guitar but also on his lap steel. As a 19-year-old, Birchwood toured in the band of Texas-bred bluesman Sonny Rhodes, who urged his protégé not only to continue pursuing the blues but also to get a college degree. And so Birchwood did, earning an MBA from the University of Tampa.

Birchwood released his debut album, “FL Boy,” in 2011, then he and his band placed ninth at the 2012 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. The next year, Birchwood won the 2013 International Blues Challenge and also the Albert King Guitarist of the Year Award. That led to his signing by the prestigious blues label Alligator Records, which released Birchwood’s “Don’t Call No Ambulance” in 2014.

Birchwood’s latest album, “Pick Your Poison,” was released by Alligator in May and includes such songs as “My Whiskey Loves My Ex,” “R We Krazy?,” “”Corporate Drone,” “Police State,” and “Even the Saved Need Saving” – all with the bluesman’s gravelly voice making him sound seasoned far beyond his 32 years.

“I write and sing what I know,” Birchwood says. “Sonny always said, ‘Play what’s in your heart.’ I’ve never lost sight of that.”

Shane Dwight Band

July 27, 2019 9:00 pm 701 Main Street, Daytona Beach, Florida

A prolific songwriter, Dwight has always made music that straddles a fence between blues and country rock, and he once even simultaneously released an album in each style. But he seems to have found his own voice since moving in 2011. Dwight’s passion and honesty are what nevertheless makes him a bluesman more than anything else. Dwight was musically inspired by Albert King’s blues guitar tone but he was raised on a horse ranch in Morgan Hill, Calif., immersed in country music of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams.

Critical accolades have followed Shane Dwight wherever he has gone. USA Today simply called him an Ace songwriter while “Blues Revue magazine stated: “Shane Dwight is a talented musician and an impressive songwriter… Dwight’s guitar playing is as substantial as his songwriting.” The San Francisco Chronicle called him “a music sensation….;”Andrew Gilbert of the San Jose Mercury News said of Dwight: “Tough, lean guitar work and commanding vocals, he is a tour de force… Shane is a killer songwriter, singer, guitarist and performer… he is an artist who’s creating a soulful Americana sound.”

Over the past 10 years, Shane Dwight has performed over 2,000 live shows, released eight CDs with over 60,000 units sold, been a repeat performer on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise (West Coast and East Coast), headlined and performed at some of the biggest music festivals around the world, including Beale Street Music Festival, Bayfront Blues Festival, Bethlehem Musikfest, Ottawa Bluesfest and Portland Waterfront Blues Festival. He has performed with and/or shared the stage with a wide variety of some of the biggest names in music: B.B. King, Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, Night Ranger, The Marshall Tucker Band, Johnny Winter, Etta James, The Doobie Brothers and Jimmie Vaughan, to name a few. His music has been heard on hundreds of radio stations in over 30 different countries.

Mark Hodgson Band Reunion

July 13, 2019 9:00 pm 701 Main Street, Daytona Beach, Florida

The Mark Hodgson Band is a four member band that includes:

Bill Carter – drums
Dan Walters – bass and vocals
Joe King – guitars and vocals
Mark Hodgson – vocals, harmonica, and guitar

The Mark Hodgson Band came into national prominence primarily in the years 1995-2000 with its residency as the house band at Boot Hill Saloon, while performing on a regular basis at The Bank & Blues Club.  With the release of “Wednesday Night at The Boot” on CD, the band became internationally known as a hard edged blues rock outfit who could go from early blues recordings by Son House, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter and T’Bone Walker to ZZ Top, Jimi Hendriz, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Tom Waits and many more.  Serving as backup band from the late tenor saxophonist, Noble “Thin Man” Watts, the quartet expanded their playlist to include Watts originals, King Curtis, Louis Jordan, Ray Charles, Bill Doggett, and the odd Boots Randolph instrumental.

The Mark Hodgson Band will reunite for the first time since their classic honk- tonk recording, “Live at OB’s” and will offer both remastered recordings the day of the show.

The Mark Hodgson Band have been in concert with: Canned Heat, Bo Diddley, Gatemouth Brown, Edgar Winter, Brad Paisley and Three Dog Night.
