Big Kettle Drum

September 8, 2018 9:00 pm 701 Main Street, Daytona Beach, Florida

Ten years of being “on the cusp” and “the band you should have seen” can wear a band down. Having played over 800 shows from Boston to Austin to Cheltenham, England, Big Kettle Drum (BKD) founding members Brant Christopher Menswar and JT Keel certainly have earned the right to kick off their boots and call it a night. But instead they continue to dive head first into writing and performing their genre-busting “Americana Soul” in living rooms, clubs and music halls across the country. Their music has been heard on dozens of  television shows and will be featured on Amazon’s “Hand of God” in the upcoming sophomore season. A decade of blue collar, morale crushing, playing to an empty room, life in a Kia Soul pulling a home-made trailer has earned them the kind of respect you deserve.

That respect has been given by the likes of Brandi Carlile, Nancy Griffith, Glenn Kaiser, Switchfoot, Tonic, Michael Tolcher, Will Hoge and others they have shared the stage with. It’s been given by Nashville songwriting machine, Marty Dodson (Six #1 singles with 20 million albums sold) who co-wrote six of the songs on their last two EP’s. Most importantly, it’s been given by their incredibly loyal fan base the band lovingly calls “Kettleheads”.

With the upcoming release of a new single and music video, BKD continues grinding it out til the banjo is out of tune, the guitar strings break and the suitcase kick drum needs more duct tape.

Doors open at 8:00, show starts at 9:00.

Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal

November 10, 2018 9:00 pm 701 Main Street, Daytona Beach, Florida

Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal’s combination of soul, funk and R&B is in a word, electric. Best displayed in their high-energy live show, the blend of Hoyer’s honest lyrics and his rich, intensely soulful vocals merge with his top-notch band to create an undeniable chemistry.

Hoyer formed Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal in 2012 in famed blues town Lincoln, Nebraska. The award-winning five-piece band includes some of the area’s most revered and accomplished musicians. Joining Hoyer (keyboards/vocals) is Benjamin Kushner (guitar), Blake DeForest (trumpet), Mike Keeling (bass), and Larell Ware (drums). Inspired by the sounds of Stax, Motown, Muscle Shoals, New Orleans, Philly and San Francisco, the band continuously crosses musical boundaries both in style and era, and joins forces each show with a common goal – to have the crowd dancing so much they forget even their smallest troubles.

On January 26th, 2018, Hoyer released “The End of the Night”, a 3-song EP and solo side project with veteran Nashville songwriters Jay Knowles (Harry Connick Jr, Blake Shelton), and Jon Coleman (Trace Adkins). In the spring of 2018, Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal recorded their fourth full length record, ‘Do It Now’, which will be released in Europe in August of 2018, followed by a 7-week European tour before its US release.

Benton Blount

July 27, 2018 8:00 pm 701 Main Street, Daytona Beach, Florida

Back in Daytona Beach by popular demand – WROD The Rock of Daytona presents Benton Blount in concert Friday July 27th at 8PM.

Growing up in the North Carolina mountains, Benton Blount never picked up a guitar or a microphone, much less played a tune. At age 18, his music pastor snuck a microphone up to his mouth and to his and everyone’s amazement, a beautiful voice was pouring out. Thus, sparking Benton’s passion for singing and writing songs.

The Season 10 airing of NBC’s America’s Got Talent was a triumphant moment for singer-songwriter Benton Blount, who sailed through the audition round with the enthusiastic support of all four of the show’s celebrity judges. For country radio, it may have served as a reminder of a talented artist who once slipped through the cracks of the Nashville system. But his success on the show, says Blount, confirms “what my heart and my mind has already told me, that … the people who even toyed around with the idea of signing me to a [Nashville label] deal and then walked away for some reason missed out on something. It’s been a mission of mine ever since then to prove them wrong. This is my way of doing it without having to go through the hoops.”

Benton would go on to finish Season 10 of AGT in the Top 5 and has never looked back. Splitting his time between recording new music, touring, raising his children and hosting a weekly audio blog, Benton stays busy for sure.

Proceeds to benefit Realtors Sold 4 the Cause, a dedicated group of REALTORS, Business Partners, and the community from the Daytona Beach Area who are passionate about helping survivors win the battle that has taken too many lives too early. We honor the legacy of those who courageously fought the battle against cancer – and will continue to raise money and awareness to rid the world of this dreaded disease. “We fund raise because we care!” Sold 4 The Cause Inc. is an accredited 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization run by VOLUNTEERS.

VIP Tickets include reserved seating, early entry, dinner and a Meet and Greet.

Doors open at 6:30PM for VIP and 7:30PM.   Davey Leatherwood will open the show beginning at 8:00 PM, followed by Benton Blount.
