New Jersey native Roger “Hurricane” Wilson comes to The Bank & Blues on November 11th! Roger began playing guitar at age 9 in 1963. But it wasn’t until his parents sent him to a private prep school in Atlanta four years later that Wilson came under the spell of Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Booker T. & the MG’s, B.B King. Seeing Duane Allman at a 1970 Atlanta concert by the Allman Brothers Band spurred Wilson to journey deep into the blues of Robert Johnson, Willie McTell and Elmore James.
Along with releasing more than 17 albums including “Live Blues Protected by Smith & Wilson,” “Hurricane Blues” and “The Business of the Blues,” Wilson has taught guitar through the Roger Wilson Guitar Studio and he’s active in the Blues in the Schools program,
