Packrat’s Smokehouse returns to The Bank & Blues on November 4th. The local band Packrat’s Smokehouse call their music Florida swamp blues. The group first began conjuring that brand of the blues in 1989 when singer, harmonica player and percussionist Anthony “Packrat” Thompson teamed up with guitarist-vocalist Robert “Lightning Boy” Thomas. The band also includes Aaron “Pop” Watson (who joined in 1993) and bassist Kenny “The Wizard” Sly (who joined in ’94).
Packrat’s Smokehouse went on hiatus from 2004 to 2015, when the foursome reunited. They’re now at work on their fifth album, due this year.
